About David

I am a Toronto-based landscape painter working in both oils and acrylics.  My works reflect the rocks, trees, water and sky that Ontario offers in varied abundance.  Favourite locations include Algonquin Park, French River, Dollars Lake and Toronto's ravines and trails.

Exposure to the iconic artwork of Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven and numerous backcountry canoe trips to Northern Ontario continue to fuel my desire to paint.  This exposure, combined with art classes taken at the AGO, private instruction and self-study, has contributed to my preferred subject matter and style.

My aim is simply to capture the beauty, mood and power of nature.  Painting on site, as well as in studio from photos I've taken, allows a direct reference to the feeling and emotion each scene provides.

I have participated in numerous juried art shows for over 20 years including Riverdale Art Walk, Beaches Arts & Crafts Show, and at Toronto-area galleries.
